Add immersive sound and picture with the Onkyo TX-SR3100 receiver

An AV receiver incorporates technologies that optimize sound and picture quality, serving as the heart of any home theater system. Thanks to its ability to handle different sources and its compatibility with high-resolution audio formats, it becomes an essential component for enjoying movies, video games, and music with the highest fidelity. With its powerful surround sound, support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and 8K/4K Ultra HD picture quality, the Onkyo TX-SR3100 is here to make this a reality.

With 80 W per channel (20–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 channels @ 8 ohms – FTC), this receiver delivers clean, distortion-free sound, even at maximum volume. Thanks to its Class AB amplification, it balances efficiency and quality for precise, interference-free playback.

This model lets you choose between a 5.2-channel or 3.2.2-channel setup, adapting to any space without the need for additional speakers. It also features Vocal Enhancer, a function that boosts dialogue so that every word can be heard clearly, even during action scenes with explosions and intense sound effects.

Onkyo TX-SR3100: Surround Sound and 8K HDR Video

Thanks to Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer and DTS Virtual:X technology, it simulates overhead sound without the need to install additional speakers, delivering three-dimensional audio that completely envelops you. In addition, Neural:X and Dolby Surround enhance the sound quality of content that doesn’t feature surround sound formats, optimizing any audio source.

In addition, thanks to AccuEQ calibration, the equalization is automatically adjusted using the included microphone, providing balanced sound no matter where you sit. If you use Klipsch Reference or Reference Premiere speakers, the receiver includes presets to get the best performance out of these models.

It also features Music Optimizer DSP mode, which restores details lost during the compression of MP3, WMA, or AAC files, resulting in playback that more closely resembles the original sound.

In addition to sound, the Onkyo TX-SR3100 enhances the visual experience with support for 8K and 4K Ultra HD. Its compatibility with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ automatically adjusts brightness, contrast, and color.

And if video games are your thing, it features HDMI 2.1a, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) to prevent screen tearing, QFT (Quick Frame Transport) to improve smoothness, and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) to reduce latency on consoles. It also includes Dynamic HDR, which optimizes picture quality in real time.

Connectivity and Price

As for connectivity options, the Onkyo TX-SR3100 features Bluetooth for wireless device pairing; it remembers the last paired device and automatically plays audio when it detects a signal. It includes 4 HDMI inputs, 3 RCA inputs, one optical input, and one coaxial input, along with 2 subwoofer outputs and an RCA Zone B output for sending audio to another part of the house.

Do you like it? It’s now available at a suggested retail price of 500 euros (VAT included). And if you have the budget for an even higher-end receiver, the Onkyo TX-RZ30 was announced last week, featuring 9.2 channels, three-dimensional sound, and compatibility with IMAX and Dolby Atmos.
